TRIPS 2018 - G1&2 visited the Botanical Garden as their unit for this month was PLANTS. G3 visited the Perur temple, G4 &5 ventured to different places in their neighbourhood -the Science Centre, ISCON temple and G6,7 attended a creativity workshop at KCT. Why TRIPS as a part of our curriculum ? Enriching educational school trips contribute to the overall development of students. The benefits of exploring different places at an early age are manifold. In this context, school trips are recognized as an integral part of our curriculum and learning, a shared social experience that renders the opportunity for students to inquire and explore the real-world problems. Students fall in love with learning when they are exposed to and engaged with challenging situations in an interesting way.For the 21st century students, relating curriculum to real life experiences beyond the classroom is of primary importance . This helps them absorb, interact and connect to the culture, history, and purpose of global evolution. Below are five key educational benefits and reasons as to why our TRIPS programme is designed to be a part of the curriculum .1. Students motivate themselves to learn –In today’s world, it is quite apparent that visual information is easier to feed in the mind textual information within the classroom. Consequently, through school trips, students register practical knowledge. Students are more likely to enjoy and learn things when they actually experience it outside the limitations of a classroom, from the field, where it all began.2. Learners gain better understanding and achieve excellent grades – Traveling kids are smarter kids, as they are exposed to many things that they might not experience while stationary. Viewing global issues from many different angles also opens up their minds to learning. Observing real-life lessons helps them become more likely to understand and appreciate the importance and relevance of what they are learning. As a result their performance is elevated to greater levels they achieve better academic proficiency.3. Gives new and valuable learning experiences –Traveling to different places widens their horizons. It nurtures a thinking mindset about connecting different ideas, opportunities, people, and professions, and sparks new interests and passions. Contrary to being served with standardized information on a platter, they actually get the opportunity to process the experience and receive valuable life lessons. It ignites the desire for a child to try new things allowing him to pursue non stereotypical dreams and unimaginable possibilities.4. Help get original and creative thoughts –They say, for a more creative brain, travel! The store of new experiences can open the mind to new ways of thinking. It’s always good to get out of the comfort zone, as then the mind gets more creative. Exploring new places stimulates the formation of new neural connections that trigger authentic and creative thoughts.5. Enhances social and communication skills –Another perk of traveling is the chance to improve communication skills. Educational trips to areas where the native language is not widely used lets students encounter people with different ways of communicating. They learn how to communicate with entirely different people. Most of the young learners also develop a keen interest to learn new languages and socialize with people of different cultures. The most treasured memories of school life are the educational trips and adventure camps attended by the students with friends. To ensure that our children can add more to this treasure with their pleasant smiles, gleaming eyes and gurgling chuckles, the school organizes multiple TRIPS every year and we are planning on going national and international from this year on…#tripsprogramme# #Rakspallikkoodam# #21stcenturygradeschool#
