TRIP TO NILGIRIS BIOSPHERE NATURE PARK, ANAIKATTI ( NOV 2018) - Children’s Day at RaK’s was a day well spent with a dosage of Vitamin N(Nature) at the ‘Nilgiris Biosphere Nature Park’, AnaikattiThe day started off with cheer as the Raksters spontaneously shook a leg along with their Li’l juniors who were having a musical drill practice session. It was just the right time to bring out the little ones in them – quite a scene to cherish and remember! Having left the campus after the brief and impromptu drill time, Raksters brought every moment alive through the journey to the Nature Park. After a quick snack, the middle school left for an adventurous trek challenging their agility and putting to test their spirit and nerve, braving the odds of a rugged terrain and a sunny day. Energy and enthusiasm personified, their curiosity knew no bounds as they stopped every now and then to enquire about the flora and fauna that they were able to lay their eyes on. It was also a chance for them to put to practice the values of respect and responsibility, when they volunteered to help take care of and guide their fellow mates through the trek and express solidarity towards the real purpose of the trip – they are examples to the fact that learning happens even in the most inconspicuous way, with simplicity, in any and every ambience. Back at the garden, the juniors of Grades 1,2 and 3 fluttered like butterflies around the garden, keenly observing a variety of animals in captivity, yet within an almost natural habitat. The opportunity to revisit their science units on different habitats coincided well with this nature walk.Lunch time was most awaited and gave the children the time, space and the right frame of mind to relax, rejuvenate and bond with each other. Little pleasures of playing around the other small, neatly mowed lawns, drenched in the excitement of the typical joy rides on swings and slides, the children spent quality time with their groups. The luxury of the natural shade under trees and small open huts gave them an apt space to engage in the chirpy game sessions that they love to play, but rarely get a chance in such company. It goes without saying, the children used their time in the most unassuming way, taking back vivid memories of an eventful day:)
