WORLD MOUNTAIN DAY 2019 - Students of grades 5 to 10 commemorated World Mountain Day in in their own small way, hiking up the Marudhamalai temple mountain and proving to themselves that they can take up challenges with enthusiasm and fervour. We believe 'Big things start in small ways.' Foregoing their cosy morning at home, students revved up in spirit to join the group in the chilly wee hours of Saturday morning.It was encouraging to see them escorted by their parents before time. Organising themselves into groups, following instructions, lending support to each other, seems to come naturally to these young adults.The troupe was led by Ms. Sangeetha, the school Yoga trainer and a hiker herself. Students were all ears to her briefing at the start of the hike. Ms. Sangeetha's safety instructions and tips for hiking were simply laid out and students followed them diligently. It's just a matter of time before these future citizens are able to appreciate the existence of such natural landforms and contribute to the protection of the livelihood of the indigenous peoples and Flora and fauna, as part of, or in addition to, their chosen career paths.
