To understand, appreciate and celebrate 'PONGAL FESTIVAL' , which marks the start of a harvest season.
PONGAL CELEBRATION
PONGAL THIRUVIZHA 2020 - The burst of hues in the vibrant 'kolams' gave a warm welcome to Raksters on a morning filled with hopes of ringing in the harvest festival with fun and austerity.Keeping the spirits high were the Tamil Teachers who organized traditional games, folk dance and activities like pot painting, rangoli competition and the traditional 'uriyadi' for children. Teachers sportively participated in competitions like making a flower Garland and testing accuracy in throwing the Garland around colleagues. As if this was not enough, the scene changed to that of a village in the afternoon, bringing with it performances like the traditional dances of Mayilattaam, Kavadiyattam, Karakattam, Kolattam, etc. from the very heart of the state. The scenes at the grade and junior school were reminiscent of the significance of each style of dance and reminded us about the role we play to ensure that such community celebrations are reflections of the culture of the state, and to enable a natural transfer of knowledge and awareness down the line. The concluding Paraiattam reverberating across the school, saw the entire community (parents, children , teachers) shake a leg to it's rhythm. The celebration was testimony of the spirit of oneness within the school community and provided an excellent avenue for children to experience the essence of the celebration.#lilpallikkoodam #rakspallikkoodam #rakscommunity #pongalthiruvizha2020 #pongal2020 #tamilcultureandheritage #tamilfolkdanceandmusic
